Questions about life?
Some questions in life are too big to ignore forever, this is where Alpha comes in...
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a fun and relaxed exploration of the Christian faith for the skeptic, seeker, believer, or anyone else. It is offered at MARANATHA two times a year:
Winter--after the new year; and Fall--after Labor Day.
See "Course Dates" to find out when the next course starts, and how to sign-up.
What happens there?
Each week, Alpha course participants enjoy a delicious meal and small group discussion.
Children (ages 12 and under) enjoy games, FUN, and friendship in Maranatha's Champ Camp.
Child care is provided FREE OF CHARGE, as is the entire Alpha course (*there is a campground fee for the Weekend Away retreat). Also, to be perfectly fair, we will be requesting a small donation to defer food costs.
The Alpha weekly talks include topics such as:
- Who is Jesus?
- Why did Jesus Die?
- Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
- Why and How Do I Pray?
- Who is the Holy Spirit?
- How Can I Resist Evil?
- Does God Heal Today?
What do you mean "small group"?
Guests are assigned to a small group, and after each Alpha talk, each member has the opportunity to say what they thought about it.
It's in the small group where you can ask your own questions, or just sit and listen. You don't have to talk at all during the small group discussion, but you'll find it difficult not too!
During the 10 weeks of small group exploration; friendships and discoveries are made that make this a truly enriching experience.
* Every MARANATHA Alpha course includes an overnight Weekend Away Retreat, hosted at a nearby campground where we enjoy an entire Saturday and half-day Sunday together. We learn about the Person and work of the Holy Spirit, as well as practical keys to making the most of one's life and how to resist evil on a regular basis.
Good food, new friendships, serene surroundings, and relaxing recreation make this the highlight for most who go on the Course.
