KARATE

Karate

Welcome to the Forest Lake Dojo. Our dojo operates under and is part of the International Karate League (IKL), Region 5, under the leadership of Sensei Mike Moe, who is our regional director. IKL is an international organization that operates under the direction and authority of it’s founder Shihan Walter K. Nishioka. The style of Karate we study was developed by our Shihan. His style can be readily described as a variation of traditional Shorin-Ryu style with modifications from Wado-Ryu and White Crane Crane Kung-fu, called Shakuken-Ryu.

In operation, IKL and it’s affiliated dojos strive earnestly to meet the vision set for us by Shihan. A quote of Shihan’s located on the IKL home page exemplifies this well:

“We are not only a school that teaches karate, but we are also a school that develops good character traits in students by having them practice our school motto so that they may become useful and outstanding members of our community.”

The interested student is strongly encouraged to read more about our clubs founder at: IKL History Additional information about IKL can be found at International Karate League.
