While emotions are important, they should not lead our lives. As we rejoice in the Lord, our hearts are steadied, our perspective is renewed, and we are better able to love others with God's patient, enduring love.

Even though Jews and Samaritans had a long history of conflict, Jesus did not respond with revenge. He showed His disciples that His way is mercy, patience, and love. When people reject us or treat us unfairly, we are still called to love them anyway.
