When God Does the Unexpected with Gordon Bates

Sermon Series:

When God Does the Unexpected with Gordon Bates:

In today’s message, Gordon challenged us to have open eyes and open hearts for when God does the unexpected. Too often, we become so focused on our plans, routines, and expectations that we fail to see God’s hand at work in our lives. How much more do we risk missing His unexpected blessings today? He also encouraged us to make this coming year a time of intentional reflection by documenting where and when God does the unexpected in our lives. At the end of the year, we can look back, rejoice, and praise Him for His faithfulness.

Love is the Greatest with Pastor Mike:

Pastor Mike emphasizes that love is the foundation of our faith. Jesus commanded us to love one another (John 13:34-35), reflecting God’s greatest example—giving His Son for us (John 3:16) and Christ dying for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8). Love is more than words; it’s action (1 Corinthians 13:1-8, 13). Without it, even the greatest sacrifices mean nothing. So, how will you reflect God's love today? Love isn’t just for a holiday—it’s a lifestyle. Every day is an opportunity to share Christ’s love.

To Know and Introduce Him Part III with Pastor Mike: In this powerful sermon, Pastor Mike emphasizes the difference between transformation and transfiguration in the Christian life. He explains that God’s goal for us is not a sudden, dramatic change in outward appearance (as seen in Christ’s transfiguration on the mount), but rather a deep, ongoing, inward transformation of the heart, mind, and character.

To Know and Introduce Him Part II with Pastor Mike: This week, Pastor Mike emphasizes that the goal of faith is to truly know God, surpassing religious achievements (Philippians 3:4-8, 10). While humans admire outward grandeur, God values simplicity and obedience (Exodus 20:1-21). He works through ordinary people—Noah, Abraham, Moses, Ruth, Esther, Mary, and the shepherds—showing that true greatness comes through humility and trust in Him (1 Corinthians 1:26-29).

To Know and Introduce Him Part I with Pastor Mike: As Christians, the focus of our faith is not on striving to meet a checklist of duties but on deepening our relationship with God. The Christian life is not something we have to do; it’s a privilege we get to embrace (1 John 5:3).
